From the site:
Rubens’ Tube is an awesome demo and here we take it to the next level with a two-dimensional ‘Pyro Board’. This shows unique standing wave patters of sound in the box.
The pressure variations due to the sound waves affect the flow rate of flammable gas from the holes in the Pyro Board and therefore affect the height and colour of flames. This is interesting for visualizing standing wave patterns and simply awesome to watch when put to music. Thank you to Sune Nielsen and everyone at Aarhus for sharing this demonstration with me! And thanks for having me at your conference.

Pretty sweet!
you can make a lot of money with that. djs can use in a club and parties
what is the name of the first song
Pyro Board: 2D Rubens’ Tube!: https://youtu.be/2awbKQ2DLRE
Music and fire!
this is awesome
🙂
Very very nice 🙂
Yay, Denmark! I’m planning on studying physics in the future, so if you get
here in 5 or so years I’ll be happy to help make a video 😀
A group in my engineering projects class is making this
Check out this video on YouTube:
Fire Speaker!
i want this as a decorative piece outside, like high tech fire pit.
This is way too cool. Fire is mesmerizing enough without it dancing to
music!
Go Denmark! (I live in Denmark)
This is AWSOME .W.
RIP Headphone users
yoo check out my mixtape
LIKE FOR DENMARK :3
ok so next obvious step is a big spinning rubens sphere . . . . or would
that explode?
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ;D 😀 antinodes and nodes
Nerd notes. At :41, aren’t the high-pressure places, corresponding to tall
flames, the places where the velocity is smallest? What’s shown might be
the opposite.
The guy explaining it says that the flames are higher some places because
of a higher velocity gas coming out, but this is the result of high
pressure locations inside the tube, which corresponds (counterintuitively)
to low-velocity locations along the tube.
When your mixtape is fire
this is awesome XD would be cool in front of a dance floor left and right
RIP Headphone users.
Yes, but can it djent?
song name?
My mind keep’s wanting to hear “Rubic’s Cube.”
it use a gas?
My fav soundtrack by Kevin MacLeod : Ice flow 😀 😀
i guess it would be the next gen speaker and fireplace. LOL
Pyro Board —
You could say that mixtape was on FIRE!
Music + Fire = Awesome!
*Watch what happens when they pump some music into the board, for science
of course :-)*
A Rubens’ tube (also known as a standing wave flame tube or flame tube) is
a physics apparatus for demonstrating acoustic standing waves. Invented by
German physicist Heinrich Rubens in 1905, it graphically shows the
relationship between sound waves and sound pressure. But, this is taken to
the next level!

A fun way to make BBQ
You guys don’t think thats how UFOs can detect if we’re in danger? Now
let’s record the sound of the sun.
That guys mixtape us actually fire
coll
100% this is going on my list of things to do, I wanna BBQ with one of
these.
I hate this thing because it gives me nightmares of it.
Song is Ice Flow by Kevin MacLeod for anyone that didn’t know the song name

awesome
WoW! Cool I want one 🙂
