I simply don’t understand the commotion over the chicken sandwich at Popeye’s and all of the competiting brands that stood up to compete in the marketing stunt. Well, it’s actually just that. A marketing stunt.

Is Popeye’s chicken sandwich the best out there? No. Of course, it isn’t. But there is no such thing as bad press. So it was an impressive stunt by all of the participating companies who got together to raise their daily sales with.

Wendy’s clearly coming in at the bottom, and they most likely knew they would. But, it wasn’t about winning. It was about a huge amount of people around the country rushing to see for themselves. If you score out at the bottom of the list, you still sold a lot more than you would have if this stunt never happened.

Popeye’s does make a mean chicken sandwich, and their chicken, in general, is pretty good. Chick-fil-A has a lot of qualities as well. However, none of the brands who participated come anywhere near the top of the list in my eyes. They are all simply a convenient and delicious sandwich to order if you happen to be close by.

However, if you want to talk about the king of chicken sandwiches, I say it is Big Chicken (Las Vegas). Why? Because their sandwiches leave a lasting impression that influences people to drive out of their way to experience it again and again. I personally live nowhere near their spot, but I have driven all the way to their location a number of times, just to be able to experience that amazing menu.

It isn’t good for you. No, it is absolutely a high-calorie/carb meal that you will feel afterward. But, you will be feeling it with a giant smile on your face. Their portions are wonderful, and their sauces (especially their honey mustard) go good anywhere on the plate (on the sandwich, and the perfect dipping solution for the fries).

Don’t believe me? If you live in or near the Las Vegas area, I challenge you to try for yourself. Everything is delicious, but I’d recommend the SHAQ DADDY for your first. Containing swiss cheese, country ham, and Carolina honey mustard bbq sauce, it will leave the best impression (IMO).

The only con is that it is only located in Las Vegas.
